The Truth About The Philadelphia Experiment By The UFO Guy

Introduction

The Philadelphia Experiment is the name given to a naval military experiment which was carried out at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, sometime around October 28, 1943. It is alleged that the U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Eldridge was to be rendered invisible (or "cloaked") to enemy devices. The experiment is also referred to as Project Rainbow.

The story is widely regarded as a hoax. The U.S. Navy maintains that no such experiment occurred, and details of the story contradict well-established facts about the Eldridge, as well as the known laws of physics. Nonetheless, the story has captured imaginations in conspiracy theory circles, and elements of the Philadelphia Experiment are featured in other government conspiracy theories.

Chapter One: The Philadelphia Experiment: Seventy Years Later

There are many different interpretations and views of what really happened, or didn’t, when the U.S. Navy embarked on a project to de-magnetize warships beginning in 1943. The information that I’m about to provide represents my best guess based on thirty years of research into an experiment that began sixty years ago and my own encounters with those who claim intimate knowledge about the project. What has become known as The Philadelphia Experiment is not a subject to be taken lightly. No matter what you believe about it or don’t, it’s a fact that several people have died or been killed as a direct result of claiming involvement with the experiment. I suggest that, if for no other reason than out of respect for them, you keep on open mind.

I grew up in the 1960’s and first became aware of the Philadelphia Experiment when I was just ten years old, while reading a number of non-fiction books about UFOs. The two subjects became linked when Morris K. Jessup wrote a book entitled ‘The Case For The UFO’ in 1955. After the book was published, a mysterious man who called himself Carlos Miguel Allende wrote to Jessup in the first of a series of rambling correspondences. The letters seemed to indicate that Jessup’s call for open discussion and government disclosure of any knowledge about UFOs was a waste of time. According to Allende, there were other forces at work which sought to protect various secrets regarding how UFOs were powered and did the things they did.

Although Jessup was not impressed with Allende’s letters, he was more than a little surprised after being contacted by three Navy Officers who worked for the Office of Naval Research. Although they claimed the contact was not official and made on their own initiative, they seemed disturbed by an annotated copy of Jessup’s book that the ONR had received. The book had notes scribbled in it by what appeared to be three different people, but most now agree it was the work of Allende. Again, the references seemed to indicate that the government had accidentally discovered how UFOs are able to manipulate time and space through a Navy Project designed to make ships invisible.

After contact with the Navy, Jessup was certain that he had stumbled on to something and thrust all his efforts into finding out what it was. By 1959, Jessup had assembled an impressive portfolio of research into what the U.S. Military knew and was hiding from the public about UFOs and the secret Navy Experiment. Set to testify about these matters before a Florida Senator and several interested parties, Jessup set off to drive from his home in Florida to Washington, D.C. in 1959. He never made it. Morris K. Jessup was found dead in his car just off a highway in Dade County, Florida. He had died from exposure to carbon monoxide. Although his death was ruled a suicide, none of his papers or the extensive research he had recently completed could be located.

I read about some of this in a book published in the 1960’s by Jessup’s friend and colleague, Ivan T. Sanderson. Sanderson wasn’t just another author, he was a scientist who believed in the possibility of Alien visitations to Earth based on the available evidence. Shortly before his death, Jessup gave Sanderson a copy of ‘The Case For The UFO’, which contained his notes about annotations made by Allende. My own interest in the Navy Project might have been satisfied at that point, but for a chance meeting with a former sailor who had been at the Philadelphia Navy Shipyard during World War II.

In 1973, I visited the family of my best friend’s bride to be in Florida. We all got together to discuss and further plan for the upcoming wedding. Aimee’s father was a retired sailor named Joseph. He was a polite, but serious individual. During a lighter moment in conversation, I happen to mention the Navy Project that I read about and its supposed connection to Flying Saucers. There had been a number of UFO sightings in Florida during that time and the topic was on everyone’s lips.

After dinner, Aimee’s father sat down across from me while the others muddled through some wedding plans. He became very serious and told me that in 1944 he had met another sailor who seemed deeply disturbed about the outcome of a strange experiment connected to the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in 1943. The man claimed that his best friend died during that experiment. Joseph and his new acquaintance shared many conversations about it after becoming friends. The man said that after making some casual inquires, a doctor at the shipyard hospital confided to him that his friend had died as a result of melting into the ship’s superstructure. The physician claimed the man was still alive when they tried to free him from part of the deck, but he had been fused with it!

I encouraged Joseph to write down everything he could remember about his conversations with the sailor. He agreed and actually took things a step further. He attempted to contact the man whom he had befriended years before, but hadn’t heard from in some time. A mutual friend told him that the sailor had passed away, but provided a contact phone number for his widow. When Joseph called, the woman accepted his condolences and the two had a brief conversation. It seems that after the sailor retired in the 1960’s, he tried contacting others who had been a part of the Navy Project to get more information on the death of his friend. He died just a few months later in a hit and run car accident. This made Joseph think twice about his own investigation which abruptly ended after that call.

From then on, I began to seriously research the Philadelphia Experiment. By the 1980‘s, a book on the subject had been published by William Moore and Charles Berlitz entitled ‘The Philadelphia Experiment: Project Invisibility’. The book was the short version of some truth, various theories and wild notions by Berlitz. Moore was forced to endure some of the nonsense included in the book in order to get it published. While Moore was new to the publishing world, Berlitz had already written a successful and equally vague book on the Bermuda Triangle.

While the Moore and Berlitz book brought attention to the subject and satisfied those already mildly interested in the subject matter, most of the attention came in the form of scorn and skeptical criticism. Critics pointed to what they felt were a number of glaring errors and historical inaccuracies. Things got worse when a major Hollywood Film based on the book was released in 1984. Instead of being a documentary style piece, it was a fictionalized account of the Navy Project that turned out to be a sci-fi love story mixed with ridiculous twists and turns.

The Moore and Berlitz publication was followed by various lesser books that were little more then large pamphlets designed to take advantage of the subject’s temporary rise in popularity. None had answered the big questions or taken on what really happened during the 1940’s. As time moved on, I met more people who claimed involvement with the project. One such person was a guy named Jonathan Jessup. He claimed to be the son of Morris K. Jessup, but that and all his other stories about being abducted by government spies as a child and used for experimentation proved to be untrue. He vanished from the scene when it was obvious he had made the whole thing up.

In 1989, I was able to videotape and question three witnesses who also claimed to have been involved with the original project and a follow-up attempt which apparently took place during the 1970’s and 1980’s. The interview and a presentation by them took place at a private home on Long Island and included just a few specially invited guests. Although some of their claims seemed insane, I was intrigued. Knowing what the topic would be beforehand, I brought with me a technical writer who had a good understanding of electronics, magnetic fields and electrical engineering. I wanted his professional opinion regarding the technical aspects of their information. To make a long story short, he did not sleep for several days after the event having been completely stunned by what he heard.

I, too, was shocked by the information I received from Al Bielek, Preston Nichols and Duncan Cameron. But being a Paranormal Researcher with years of experience, I’ve learned to always look at the bigger picture, not individual stories or pieces of evidence which are always subject to personal interpretation. In this case, it was obvious these men had been through something. They had far too much knowledge and impressively cohesive stories to be faking it, although I did not necessarily agree with all of their conclusions.

By the mid-1990’s, I had been speaking on The Philadelphia Experiment as part of one of my UFO Seminars for many years. As a result, a number of people had shared what they knew about the Navy Project with me. None wanted any publicity. The exception was a man named Phil Schneider. By coincidence, I was set to present a Seminar in the same hotel a few days after a Global Sciences Conference where he was speaking. Having arrived early for publicity purposes, I attended some of the conference and heard Phil speak.

Although he rambled at times and was not the best Speaker, I got the gist of his message and we spoke privately for a brief period the following day after a workshop. It seemed that Phil’s father had been a part of the original Philadelphia Experiment as a Ship’s Doctor. Phil, himself, had extensive Government involvement having worked as a Geologist during the construction of various underground installations and in other capacities. By the time I met him, Schneider had been speaking on the subjects of the Navy Project and his own intimate knowledge of the government cover-up regarding UFOs and Aliens for just a short time. With several fingers missing on each hand and gunshot wounds to his body, it was obvious that he had been through something and that not everyone was pleased with his willingness to share the truth. In 1996, Phil Schneider was found dead in his apartment with tubing wrapped around his neck. As in the case of Morris K. Jessup, Phil’s death was ruled a suicide.

I doubt that anyone, except those with direct involvement, know the true and entire story of the Philadelphia Experiment. But here is my take on what happened:

Several young scientists at Princeton University, in New Jersey, had been working on various physics projects involving time travel, time displacement and using strong magnetic fields to move and manipulate objects (from a purely theoretical standpoint). This was all done on paper and nothing could be proved. After World War II began, most knew that the U.S. was secretly trying to developed an atomic weapon that would end the War quickly. Many of the scientists, like Einstein, were concerned that this weapon was not something that could be put back in the box after the War was won.

The Navy had their own doubts about the atomic weapon. They were certain that nothing less the a full naval assault on the main islands of Japan would end the war. In the meantime, they faced another problem. The Navy was losing ships to German U-boat attacks and a new type of mine that the Nazis were using which was attracted to the partially magnetized hulls of ships. They needed to find a way to quickly de-magnetize ships and make them invisible to U-boats and other attack ships and planes. By the time the Navy approached Albert Einstein and other prominent Princeton scientific luminaries for help in these matters, they had tried a number of methods to achieve their goal.

The Navy degaussed ships in port, but this was a time consuming method of demagnetizing that was impractical during wartime. They also tried using various exotic paint mixtures designed to refract or redirect light away from their ships, but this still left them visible and vulnerable to air forces, radar and sonar. When the Navy came calling at Princeton, a few young physicists saw an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. They would solve the Navy’s little problem and, at the same time, test some of their own theories regarding time displacement and using strong magnetic fields to manipulate matter in a real world setting.

Although his work during World War Two remains classified today, Albert Einstein was under contract to the Navy during that time. What I have been able to glean from many sources is that Einstein preferred the development of strong defensive weapons, instead of the offensive Atom Bomb he was certain would lead to complete destruction of the human race. Those who agreed with him at Princeton were invited to join his efforts. This group of scientists told the Navy they could make a ship invisible to radar, sonar and would work on ways to effectively hide it from view. Of course, they didn’t explain the actual nature of the technology they were planning on using to accomplish this goals.

Because it was close to Princeton, secure and had ships available for experimentation, the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard was chosen as the physical home of the project. A new and not yet commissioned ship, which would eventually be the USS Eldridge, was chosen as the test craft for the project. The first part of the experiment took place at the shipyard in 1943 when a powerful electromagnetic field was used to instantly degauss the ship without any damage to electronic equipment on board. The vessel also became invisible to radar, but an unexpected and more then welcomed side effect occurred that the scientists hoped for, but the Navy didn’t expect. It briefly vanished from sight, becoming what the observers had thought was invisible.

In reality, the ship had briefly moved to another time and place, having returned when the off-ship field generating equipment was shut down. Some small animals placed on board in cages died after a strange greenish glow encircled the hull just before and after the ship vanished. No humans were on board during that test and the details of the animal deaths were ignored by Navy Officials over-seeing the project after being told the fields in use could be adjusted for safety. The experiment moved forward.

By 1944, a sea trial was ordered. The Eldridge was manned and surrounded by several other ships. All carried the same technology with the hope that convoys of radar and sonar invisible ships would pass U-boats and other enemy craft undetected, but the Eldridge was the only vessel given permission to power up to full field strength on that occasion. With many observers, including a Merchant Marine later known as Carlos Allende aboard one of the support ships, the experiment commenced off the coast of New Jersey.

While everyone watched, the Eldridge powered up its field generation equipment. As before, a strange green glow appeared and the ship began to fade from sight. On board, things started to go badly. Sailors became disoriented, couldn’t see and some were burnt by the green mist. Others faded into the deck and superstructure of the ship.

Moments after it vanished in 1944 off the Jersey Coast, the Eldridge briefly appeared in 1983 off of the coast of Long Island. That occurred because the ship had been pulled through a sort of time displacement worm hole simultaneously created by the 1944 experiment and another taking place as a follow-up project at a Government Base thought to be abandoned near Montauk Point. When the Montauk Base shut down their power, the ship was pulled back to 1944 and reappeared seconds after it had vanished.

Upon its return, strange objects were seen above the ship. These may have been UFOs. It’s possible and likely that humans had just discovered how Aliens (if they exist) were able to warp and manipulate time and space fields to move about as they liked. But in 1944, humans lacked the technology or computers to control such powerful energy fields. The result was that a third of the crew died, having become a part of the ship’s wooden deck and steel superstructure. Many parts of the ship were covered with canvas to conceal the dead, before it was allowed to return to the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard that night.

Those who survived the 1944 sea trial sometimes faded back and forth between time periods. An article in a 1944 edition of the Philadelphia Enquirer stated that during a bar fight at a local dive where sailors and workers from the Navy Shipyard drank, two sailors briefly became translucent and even transparent fading into the rear wall of the bar! Others went insane. By 1945, the Navy had all the remaining sailors locked up in the shipyard hospital‘s mental ward. What became of them after that, I don’t know.

While Nay Sayers point out that members of the commissioned Eldridge’s crew say none of this ever happened on their watch, most of what happened did so before the ship was commissioned or during times when a special crew was placed on board for the project. Even looking at the Eldridge’s logbook wouldn’t help, because nothing about the secret project would be in it (although it has been reported that around fifty pages are missing from that logbook).

Regarding Einstein’s possible involvement, he was never seen at the shipyard. It’s possible that his position with the project was more a ceremonial one allowing the Navy to make use of whatever ideas he cared to input, while other physicists and engineers were given carte blanche on the scene to do whatever was necessary to get the job done. Most of them were young, ambitious and eager to test their theories in the real world.

Although disappointed at some of the results of the sea trials, the Navy realized that a new and exciting technology had been discovered and weren’t about to let it go. Not only had the project shown them that the use of controlled energy fields could produce the ability to move objects rapidly through time and space, but the fields produced an effect on the human mind. After some of the sailors from the 1944 sea trials went insane, the Navy wondered if that effect could be controlled and directed at friendly forces to make them fight fearlessly or at enemy forces to force their surrender?

All these theories would later be tested at what once had been the home of World War II shore batteries and, later, a radar facility used to protect coastal areas from incoming bombers or missiles during part of the Cold War. Willing and unwilling participants were apparently brought to the government facility known as Camp Hero near Montauk Point to test the new technology. Because these tests attracted UFOs, it was no accident that thousands of sightings occurred during that time period. This lead some UFO researchers to erroneously conclude that Long Island hosted some sort of base for UFOs somewhere offshore. A popular boating magazine called RUDDER ran a 1969 article warning boaters that a number of pleasure craft had encountered UFOs off the Long Island coast near Montauk and were unable to restart their engines after the objects moved within close proximity to them.

Most of what happened at Montauk occurred underground. Tunnels were built for miles in and around the Montauk property by the alternative energy genius Nicola Tesla for his own work with electrical fields many years before the project arrived. These tunnels and others used for the shore batteries during World War II became the perfect setting for one of our nation’s greatest secrets. While the old radar dish left behind after it became obsolete was used to test the mind control aspects of the new technology by transmitting waves out in all directions above ground, humans were strapped into a special chair and transported through time and space in the underground area.

Sound crazy? Once the dish became active and thought-altering signals were shot out for twenty miles in all directions, quiet towns that haven’t had their own jails or police departments since the Revolutionary War started to experience crime waves. People just went nuts! There may also be strong proof that the time displacement chair was real and had been used under the Base. During one of the time travel experiences that Al Bielek told me about, he found himself at some future point in New York City surrounded by debris. It looked as if half the city had been destroyed. Although he would not elaborate, if you were to watch my video of what he did reveal about that particular time journey, you might come to the same conclusion that I did. The time displacement chair under Montauk may have transported Bielek to the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks over ten years before they occurred and what he saw was probably the debris from the destruction of the World Trade Center buildings!

The proof of any wild story that might just be true lies in its longevity. If so, the Philadelphia Experiment has survived sixty years of false witnesses, bad film portrayals, ridiculous books, non-stop Nay Sayers and still remains alive and well, refusing to go down as merely an urban legend. Personally, I am a nuts and bolts type of Paranormal Researcher who has little use for wild, metaphysical claims. Despite any psychic or new age sideshows that might try and associate themselves with the project in all its various forms and incarnations, I do believe that the Philadelphia Experiment happened and resulted in a new and dangerous technology for the U.S. Government to tinker with. As a result, people have been silenced, killed or possibly even erased from existence. Whether you believe it happened as described or not, it’s likely that your life and millions of other lives have already been changed or influenced by The Philadelphia Experiment.

Chapter Two: Philadelphia Experiment Survivor Predicts Major Power Grid Failure!

During the first week in August, 2003, Al Bielek predicted the failure of a major power grid sometime in mid-August in the United States. Bielek made this prediction on the nationally syndicated Coast to Coast radio show which features themes associated with the unexplained, paranormal and earth changes.

As someone who has claimed to have traveled into the future during experiments at the Montauk Base on Long Island during the 1980s and the original Philadelphia Experiment in the 1940s, people have often questioned his stories of government experiments with time travel and mind control. When I filmed an interview with him and two other Montauk Survivors in 1989 introducing them to the world at large, he recalled being in the midst of terrible devastation in New York City at some future point in time. Bielek had been transported there, he said, by a time device located at Montauk. All three knew about the event, but beyond describing the destruction, would not comment on it. I now believe that Al Bielek had traveled to 2001 and witnessed the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks.

Given his latest prediction, it seems that skeptics owe Bielek an apology. One could argue that local power failures happen in the summertime because of demands placed on systems by air conditioners, but to predict an entire grid would go down and then have it happen during the time period he said it would is more then coincidence! Bielek attributed this to the fact that it’s the 60th anniversary of the Philadelphia Experiment. What he meant by that, I’m not sure. But this may be a message from the future to the past that time travel is real and the U.S. Government is covering it up.

Chapter Three: The Story and The Sailor That Refuses To Die

The Philadelphia Experiment is a story that refuses to die. For over sixty years the tale of U.S. Government experiments with invisibility, time travel and mind control have been the crux of what started at the Philadelphia Navy Shipment as a project to demagnetize warships in the early 1940s. Despite denials by the Navy, in-depth investigations by debunkers and a world full of scientists who say it wasn’t possible in the 1940’s and still isn’t today, a steady flow of new witnesses and evidence seems to support the story.

Ronald Mallett, theoretical physicist and professor at the University of Connecticut, stated in 2001 that recent experiments with light make time travel possible. Those experiments proved that light can be slowed, then returned to its normal speed. Mallett felt that this new information provided positive theoretical implications for time travel theorists. But that’s theoretical and pails in comparison to what the Philadelphia Experiment and Montauk Project may have already accomplished.

I’ve presented hundreds of seminars on the UFO cover-up which includes information that I have about the Philadelphia Experiment and Montauk Project. I also maintain a website with short versions of those stories available to read. Given that, people often contact me when they come across anything related to those topics. Such was the case a few weeks ago when I received a call from a person I will call Virginia, a homeowner from a costal Maryland town. I cannot be more specific until we iron out all of her privacy concerns.

Virginia retired last year and purchased a home near the Maryland Coast. The house she bought was 85 years old and needed some major repairs. Virginia and her husband planned to spend about three months preparing the home for their use. Most of the needed repairs involved an interior facelift. A small room with an old desk and empty file cabinets on the second floor of the two story home was slated to become a part of a larger room next to it with the removal of a wall. Some old suitcases, empty packing crates and other debris had been left in there as well.

With contractor work scheduled to begin within a few days, Virginia, her husband and two friends went to work removing everything from the small room. They moved the desk and file cabinets out first, then began bundling up the old suitcases and various pieces of debris left in the corners of the small room. While the four worked, Virginia began to feel a bit sick to her stomach. Her husband and friends complained of similar feelings over the next few moments. Before any of them had time to consider they’re sudden, unexplained illness, an odd green mist filled one corner of the room.

As all present were focused on the green mist, they could see a human form taking shape. It looked like a man dressed in what all agreed later was a sailor’s white uniform. It did not appear to be a modern uniform, but one that might have been worn fifty or sixty years ago. None were familiar with Naval Uniforms, but the group came to this conclusion after viewing photos of U.S. Sailors from the 1940‘s. Within seconds, the man became solid and started to move a bit. Virginia’s husband had been an electrician for years before he retired and noted that he smelled the odor of over-heated circuitry in conjunction with the Sailor‘s appearing.

Before anyone could say or do anything, the sailor looked at the group and said, “2005. Watch out for 2005! They’re playing with your future!” After that, the Sailor faded into the wall and the green mist dissipated in less than ten seconds. All agreed later that they had heard his voice and everyone heard the same thing. They described the Sailor’s voice as deep and full, but sounding a bit muffled.

For at least an hour after the event the group talked about what had happened. Each described what they had felt happened and it was obvious that they had all seen and heard the same thing. The four felt as though they wanted to get out of that house, but none could bring themselves to leave the small room. Suppose the Sailor came back? Virginia brought some sandwiches up to the room while the others stayed to keep watch, but nothing further happened. They completed the work on the room and ended the day by agreeing not to speak to anyone about the event until they could meet in a few days to discuss it again.

The incident with the Sailor occurred on February 12, 2004. Virginia, her husband and their two friends got together a few days after it to discuss what should be done. Virginia and her husband had gone back and carefully examined the area in the small room where the Sailor had appeared. There was no physical evidence that they could see to indicate anything strange had happened. After reporting this to her friends, Virginia indicated that she had spent some time online to see if this had happened to anyone else. While digging for information, Virginia came across my website. She and her husband read the articles I had available about the Philadelphia Experiment and Montauk Project, sharing the information with her friends.

As a group, they decided to order the video set I had available on the two subjects before contacting me or anyone else. By the end of March, all had watched the videos and been stunned at the information they contained. According to Virginia, none of these people had any particular interest in or feelings about paranormal topics prior to the strange event involving the Sailor. But all agreed the incident had happened and none could find a logical explanation for it. At that point, the group decided to contact me.

After speaking with Virginia, I made arrangements to visit these people and examine the room for myself. I was able to spend three days in the area and spoke with each person in-depth during that time. Although I found no physical evidence to support their story beyond the existence of the room and the way they said it looked, I was impressed by their individual accounts. None of these people seemed willing to add or subtract from what they claimed happened and all their accounts matched up perfectly.

Although I am only in the first stages of investigating this event, I honestly believe that these people had related a true account to me of an actual event they experienced. I have no idea and cannot even speculate if the appearance of the Sailor was connected in any way to The Philadelphia Experiment or Montauk Project, but I do feel that the Sailor was probably not a ghost, random vision or an image from the past being played back in the present. This seemed to be a purposeful visit.

My concern is whether or not the warning about 2005 was directed at these individuals or to people in general. None of the group involved had knowledge of any relatives or close friends who may have served in the Navy in the present or recent past. All agreed to speak with their families to find out if there is such a connection, but none wanted to share their experience with relatives or other friends at this point.

This event could turn out to be a very important one if the message from the Sailor was directed to more then just the group involved. That is the nature of the Philadelphia Experiment and Montauk Project. The Government seems to know what such cryptic messages mean, but we are left to speculate or live with the consequences. Had I understood what Al Bielek and Preston Nichols related to me in the late 1980’s, I would have done everything possible to warn people about 9/11. But I didn’t understand it and neither did they. All we had was their account of traveling to a future point in New York City and viewing the aftermath of a terrific disaster.

It’s fortunate that I captured the conversation with Preston and Al on video, or I would look back and wonder if I could have derived more from what they said and have done something to warn people. But I’ve watched the video many times and see that while the description was perfect, no specific date was available. Remember, they were seeing the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks without any knowledge of who caused them or when.

If the message from the Sailor is a warning to all of us and the U.S. Government knows the nature of the threat, I hope they will take action or prepare us for the worst. Given what has happened to date, I do not see this happening.

Chapter Four: Shocking New Evidence Surfaces

The intent of my last article on the Philadelphia Experiment was to update and inform, but also to seek reciprocation. It’s a foolish paranormal researcher who keeps information from the public and then expects them to fly to his doorstep with what they may know about a particular case. Based on the response to my article, I am happy that I decided to share what has come my way. But before I share what’s new, allow me to recap.

My last article concerned the paranormal experience of a retired Maryland Couple and their two friends. The event occurred while they were remodeling a recently purchased home. The couple and their two friends were working in a small room on the second floor of the eighty-five year old structure when a green mist filled one corner of the room. This was followed by the sudden appearance of what they described as a man in an outdated U.S. Navy uniform. The man became as solid as they and said, “2005! Watch out for 2005! They’re playing with our future!” The sailor then vanished along with the mist.

After two visits to the location of this event and a number of follow-up interviews with the witnesses, I remain convinced that these people are being completely honest about what happened. The couple have actually offered to take a lie detector test, but I do not see that as necessary just yet. While I am objective, I am not a cynic or septic (Oops, did I mean Skeptic?). It’s been my experience that even the most well-meaning researcher can investigate the life right out of any case. Asking too many questions, drawing too many conclusions or reading too much into mundane aspects of any paranormal event can drive the case, witnesses and investigation away from fruitful areas.

It was my intention to spend much of a second visit with the Maryland Couple and their friends as an observer. While it may be possible that a sailor from the original Philadelphia Experiment trapped in some sort of limbo just happened to appear when and where he did, it’s also possible that the time and location were carefully chosen. Either way, I was certain that the solution to that riddle wouldn’t be found by pressing the couple and their friends for answers they didn’t have. Instead, I allowed the witnesses to volunteer any information, impressions or feelings they had about the event and kept my eyes open.

During the second day of my second visit to the Maryland Witnesses, I noticed that several full-sized, unmarked vans began to appear near the home they were renovating. Not wanting to read too much into this, I didn’t mention it to anyone and merely snapped a few photos of the vehicles. By the end of that same day a larger vehicle resembling an RV entered the area. I was more then a little curious after noticing a NASA emblem on it. I approached it and attempted contact with anyone that might be inside, but no one responded. I took some photos and went back to my motel.

After giving the whole situation some thought, I decided to contact a friend of mine who was also a journalist. He had no interest in the Philadelphia Experiment, but had helped me with several UFO cases in the past. Without providing him with the story behind my visit to Maryland, I merely pointed out that something strange had happened in a particular area of the State and now NASA was there! We both recalled how that after a flurry of UFO sightings and encounters in the Fyffe (Alabama) area in the 1980‘s, NASA trucks had shown up: The reason given back then for their presence was ‘Atmospheric Research’ without any further elaboration.

My friend called me just before lunchtime the next day. He said that several calls to press contacts within NASA had yielded nothing. No one had any information about NASA vehicles or personnel during anything special in that area of Maryland. At the same time he pressed me for what I was investigating. Without giving details any more specific then in my first article, I told him the story behind my visit. He was polite, but the Philadelphia Experiment just wasn’t an area of interest for him. I thanked him for his help and went back out to see what NASA was up to.

It didn’t surprise me at all to see that NASA had left town. The unmarked vans and RV were gone, but they were replaced by something even stranger.

While still in Maryland I received an email as a result of my first article. It came from a man who had viewed my videos on the Philadelphia Experiment and actually visited the Montauk Base as a result. Jim lived in Maryland and noticed the presence of an unmarked plane while visiting his mother’s house. Although he didn’t know it, his mom didn’t live far from the new witnesses. The plane caught his eye because it was identical to a spy plane that regularly flies at a very low altitude over the Montauk Facility. Jim saw the plane while walking through the Montauk Base and took some photos. He was also able to photograph the plane near his mother’s home.

After showing me some photos he took of the plane, I did see the resemblance. Both planes are likely Beechcrafts of the kind used by various Armed Forces and government agencies for observation or intelligence gathering. Jim said that he visited his mother’s home on a regular basis and never noticed the plane before, but since the first sighting it had taken to flying over the area at least two times each day. It was during several of the those flights that he snapped the photos.

I saw the plane on the fourth and last day of my second trip. I was just leaving the house owned by the new witnesses when I saw the aircraft fly almost directly over it! There wasn’t time for a photo, but I was certain that I had noticed the engine noise on a couple of previous occasions. I hadn’t made the connection because I had just assumed it was one of the many small planes that took off and landed at a small airport nearby.

I hate to stop here because I have more to tell about all this, but that will have to wait for another article. The reason will become obvious when I release the next installment of my comments on this investigation.

Chapter Five: Hurricane Katrina

It’s taken me some time to be able to write this article. That’s because I am in awe of the time travel prophecy that came my way just a year and a half ago. I shouldn’t be because it’s happened before. I clearly remember sitting in a quiet room in the late 1980s when Preston Nichols, Al Bielek and Duncan Cameron spoke of a cataclysmic event that would occur sometime in the future of New York City. As my video camcorder captured their every word, I remember how reluctant they were to talk about it. Their reluctance seemed almost dutiful and preprogrammed. Watching that video today, I know they were describing the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

To recap from previous articles: On February 12, 2004, a woman that I’ll refer to as Virginia was joined by her husband and two friends to clean out a small room that existed on the second floor of their newly purchased retirement home in Maryland. The eighty-five year old house needed an interior facelift. With Contractor work set to begin shortly, the four had the task of removing items from a smaller room that was going to become part of a larger open area when everything was completed.

As the small group of people prepared the items for removal, they suddenly felt sick to their stomachs. A green mist appeared in the room accompanied by the form of a man and the odor of over-heated circuitry. He looked like a sailor wearing a long out of date naval uniform. Before anyone could react, the sailor looked at the group and said, “2005. Watch out for 2005! They’re playing with your future!” After that, the Sailor faded into the wall and the green mist quickly dissipated. All agreed later that they had heard his voice and everyone heard the same thing. They described the Sailor’s voice as deep and full, but sounding a bit muffled.

Despite the seemingly over-dramatic words and manner of the misty sailor, it would be a mistake to dismiss the incident out of hand. I have carefully researched this event as time and finances have allowed since it first occurred over a year ago. My investigations have leaded me to believe that it’s not a work of fiction and likely occurred as reported. Although I have dutifully reported the progress of my investigation through follow-up articles, I have not turned the entire situation into some sort of carnival atmosphere. I knew that this event would somehow play out and now it has.

Hurricane Katrina was more than just a weather event; it was a catastrophe of almost unprecedented proportions. Was that the nature of the sailor’s warning? It’s hard to say because there doesn’t seem to be any direct connection between the two events, at least on the surface. Digging deeper has uncovered some disturbing facts that we all may want to consider before drawing any final conclusions.

The manipulation of weather has long been a priority for the United States. One need only look at HAARP (High frequency Active Auroral Research Program). The notorious HARRP array in Alaska is said to have the ability to bounce electromagnetic beams off the upper atmosphere and focus them for the purpose of heating the ionosphere. Although touted as the building block for an advanced military communication and tracking system, there can be no doubt that HAARP has the ability to cause some type of weather changes. It may be no accident that HAARP is also a direct descendent of ELF and Radiosonde research.

ELF is a special low frequency radio system used to allow for communication with submarines deep under the sea. The Radiosonde is a radio sounding device. These devices are used by the National Weather Service and often placed on weather balloons. HAARP, ELF and Radiosonde devices have long been connected to research that goes hand in hand with the Philadelphia Experiment technologies. The mind control aspect of the Philadelphia Experiment was said to have involved the use of microwave, Radiosonde and other technologies that could have preceded or coincided with the development of ELF and HAARP.

The technology used for the invisibility effect achieved during the original P.E. experiments affected the minds of those involved. This left the door wide open to explore the possible use of that technology for mind control. Imagine the military or political benefits that could be derived from the successful deployment of mind control devices? However, those devices would only be as good as their ability to operate over a widespread area. The development of additional technologies to assure that would be possible may have also assisted in the discovery and deployment of things like ELF, HAARP and Radiosondes. However, there can be no doubt that the use of these technologies to control weather would be equally as beneficial from a political or military standpoint.

Weather manipulation can provide obvious benefits in terms of record harvests, national revenues and tourism. The danger, however, is the same one that exists with time travel. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. You cannot attempt to alter the past or future without the potential of doing serious damage to yourself or others. That’s because we do not yet possess the ability to fully manipulate time. To do that, we would have to have a complete database of its ebb and flow. Most would concede the implausibility of being able to create such a concise record. However, that would not stop us and probably has not stopped us from attempting to control weather or time. Our Space Program provides a good model for this.

Once we discovered that the technologies to take us out into Space could be developed, we went ahead full throttle. As with Time Travel and Weather Control technologies, the potential political, economic and military benefits derived from diversified missile and rocket projects were just tempting to ignore. No one was concerned about being able to control how many missiles were eventually deployed, the amount of space junk that would end up in orbit or the number of people who might die during space missions. They were just worrying about all that would come later.

Despite the horrendous damage we might due to our planet in trying to control the weather, I have no doubt that such considerations play a secondary role. I am certain that many scientists have convinced themselves that we now know enough about our ecosystem to be able to predict almost any potential problem with weather control. Likewise, the scientists and engineers working on time travel projects have likely adopted the popular theory that says that Time is actually a big circle with no beginning or end. That would allow for movement anywhere within that circle. Any changes would merely become part of the norm, despite the fact that large numbers of people, places or things may be permanently altered or simply cease to exist.

Acceptance of the big circle theory when it comes to Time Travel may have opened a Pandora’s Box that can never be closed. It might not be unreasonable to suggest that the government would use available weather alteration technologies to cause what seems like a catastrophe to fix or prevent a problem created or detected by their Time Travel program. Such a problem could end up being ten times worse than the disaster they may have caused to fix or prevent it.

Most people think in the now. When considering the past, present or future, they do so in relation to the reality they know. Suppose it were possible to consider any number of possible realities, choose one and replace those less desirable? The problem is that accomplishing that switch may come with unforeseen consequences. When it comes to time travel, little problems can quickly become big ones requiring more than just a little tweaking of a desired time line.

Because New Orleans is one of America’s largest ports, it’s not unreasonable to consider the possibility that something terrible may have happened requiring a PE-style time travel fix and subsequent alteration of the present as a preventative measure. There could have been a dirty bomb or biological attack by terrorists bringing something into that port. A hurricane might have been just the distraction needed for U.S. Authorities to deal with the threat in a quiet way.

Less than a year ago there was a story on the major cable news networks of a cargo ship carrying something dangerous on board. The ship was headed toward the east coast of the U.S. The last I heard was that the Coast Guard was going to intercept the ship far offshore because they had word of a credible threat. Following those reports, the story and the ship just vanished. Nothing more was said. I went to the CNN and Fox News websites looking for the story that both networks had reported. The story was gone. This is not conjecture or guesswork, it’s a fact.

Hurricane Katrina and the possibilities it has provided as a fulfillment of the time traveling sailor’s prophecy is something we should all carefully consider. For me, the shoe fits and fits very well. We can only hope that the next warning we receive will be one that allows us to take some preventative action. The very nature and dramatic accent of the 2004 warning leaves me with the sinking feeling that it was motivated more by desperation, then the hope that anyone had the ability to stop what was coming.

Chapter Seven: The Montauk Project and The Philadelphia Experiment

Synopsis From Various Sources

In the last years of World War II the U.S. military forces, mainly under Dr. Von Neuman, previously assistant to Nikola Tesla, focused their attention on achieving radar invisibility. Tesla later bowed out of the operation in March 1942 due to his lack of confidence in its success, however he appointed Dr Von Neuman to take over. The results of this research have become commonly known as the Philadelphia Experiment, due to the location involved. It was a the Philadelphia Naval Yard that the SS. Eldridge was wired with high frequency transformers and charged for the purpose of creating a cloaking device. On August 12, 1945 the Eldridge did disappear and returned four hours later with a great many distortions. The molecular structure of the ship and its crew had obviously been disintegrated and reformed, as some of the crew members returned with their bodies integrated into the steel bulk-head of the ship, other members of the crew were missing. The story of this experiment has been most vividly described by two brothers who jumped off the ship while moving through hyperspace and found themselves to have travelled forward in time and space. The time was 2am August 12, 1983 the place Montauk, Long Island where a similar experiment had been set into operation to link with the Eldridge, in order to destroy the generators on board the ship which were out of control. The story of the two brothers, Duncan and Edward Cameron is both complicated and interesting and is a subject well worth considering. The experiment that the Cameron brothers projected forward to in time was known as the Rainbow Project but was later renamed the Phoenix Project once the connection to 1943 had been made. This project was conducted in an ex-naval airforce base situated at Montauk Point on the far eastern coast of the State of New York. The success of the project allowed for the development of further projects. Von Neuman concentrated on how to overcome the problems that had arisen during the Philadelphia Experiment, which involved developing and refining the technology involved and with resolving the metaphysical questions of how to stabilize the consciousness of those travelling through hyperspace. The chain of events from the Philadelphia Experiment in 1943 to the Phoenix Project in 1983 was a manifestation of the lines of research and development explored by the U.S. Military Forces which incorporated many of the top Nazi scientists and engineers who up until the end of the war were producing space transportation and weaponry far in advance of the Allied Forces. This research and development has given rise to, among other things, the computer technology we use today, the radar invisibility of the Stealth Bomber and a range of metaphysical experiments which became the most recent topic of investigation carried out at the Montauk Base. In 1951 the SS. Eldridge was sold to the Greek Navy, apparently the log book had been tampered with, every page prior to 1944 had been torn out. To this day the U.S. government denies that any such experiment took place on board the Eldridge. The inside story of the Philadelphia Experiment and the Montauk Project have been brought to light by Preston Nichols, Duncan Cameron and author/journalist Peter Moon. This adventure into the mysteries of time and space makes fascinating reading, for the web it weaves is without beginning or end. Due to official denial of the existence of these research projects, the development of mind altering techniques have also been developed alongside the main research to be used on those involved in project operations as a means of assuring secrecy. In the early '70's Preston Nichols, an electrical engineer was given a grant to study mental telepathy. His research involved monitoring the responses of various psychics; to his surprise he found that at the same time of everyday their minds would be jammed and they were unable to think effectively. Suspecting interference from an electronic signal, Preston Nichols used radio equipment to monitor the air waves for incoming signals. He found that whenever a 412-420mhz cycle appeared on the air the psychics' minds were jammed. When the 412-420mhz cycle was off the psychics would open back up after about twenty minutes. (p16 Montauk Experiments in Time) Nichols set out to trace this signal using a modified TV antenna attached to the roof of his car and a VHF receiver, he tracked the signal to Montauk Point. The signal was coming directly from a red and white radar antenna on the Air Force base. The anomaly posed to Nichols was that this type of radar was an antiquated model originally used in W.W.II as a radar defense system known as a Sage Radar. Nichols found a high security presence around the base who gave him very little useful information. There was no more connection between Nichols and the Naval Air Force base at Montauk until 1984. A friend told Nichols that the base had been abandoned and was worth checking out. When Nichols arrived at the base he was amazed to find it in a state of abandonment which suggested some sort of emergency evacuation. He found all sorts of high voltage equipment and many scattered documents, showing that the base had recently been in operation. Nichols sort to find out who owned the equipment since he was a collector of electronics equipment. However no official department wanted to claim ownership, it seemed officially the base had not been in operation. Eventually Nichols was given clearance to go into the base and pick up any equipment he found. It was during this visit to the Montauk Base that Nichols began to experience anomalies between his memories and his encounters. For instance he met a homeless man who had been sheltering on the base since it had been abandoned.

This man recognized Nichols as one of the technicians who had been involved with the running of the base and also remembered that Nichols had gone AWOL just before the experiment went crazy and the base had to be evacuated. Preston had no conscious recollection of these events and gave it little serious thought until he was similarly recognized at ham radio festivals on a number of other occasions. These encounters began to bring about shifts in Preston's consciousness. In the same year Preston met Duncan Cameron who became involved in his research with mental telepathy. Preston and Duncan went to the Montauk Base to investigate the anomalies and the signals that had been transmitted from the Sage Radar. Whilst there, Duncan began to unravel many layers of consciousness, part of which involved his role in the purpose of the base. Some of this experience has been recorded on video and shows Duncan in an obvious state of distress. During this traumatic release Duncan remembered his role in the project as the psychic projector, where he stabilized and focused the web of Kundalini energy and visual images, which were then amplified through a highly developed computer system and used to create the portal through which matter could be projected into a different time or space or brought into matter on the Montauk Base.

The development of these experiments involved a great cost to human life, according to Al Bielek 1/4 million street kids went missing over a number of years through the 24 bases connected to this operation. The project particularly relied on the potential electromagnetic energy of young pubescent boys who underwent various sorts of maltreatment in the process of exploring the nature and use of this energy. It also became apparent that Preston had been programmed to operate on two different time tracks. During the surfacing of his suppressed memories, Preston began to experience lost time and the occurrence of unsynchronized events, for example he would frequently find that during his working day his hands would become damaged and treated with a plaster without any conscious recollection on his part of how or when this had happened. At the time Preston was working for a defense contractor on Long Island. Determined to know more, he found the most effective method for releasing his blocked memories was to follow his gut reactions as he walked around the plant. One particular room made him feel positively irritated.

He tried to gain access to this room but found he didn't have the security clearance to enter. Over the coming weeks Preston pursued his investigation, the lost time experiences were continuing and he continued to follow his body messages. One day he dared to cross a security clearance point by following the procedure of handing in his ID and to his surprise his security clearance badge was handed to him and he was allowed to go through. Preston followed his churning stomach and found himself in a posh mahogany paneled office and on the desk was his name plate which read "Preston B. Nichols, Assistant Project Director."

Going through the papers Preston realized he had an entire second career that consciously he knew nothing about. Preston's experiences go on, but enough has been given here to signify the nature of the intrigue and complexity of these peoples' story, suffice to say Preston later realised how he came to have so many injuries to his hands. While operating as Assistant Project Director he was involved in developing and designing some highly technical equipment which involved a lot of shunting around of heavy machinery, whereby his hands were frequently being caught and injured. The full extent of the experiences involved in the Montauk Project stretches through four fascinating books written by Preston Nichols and Peter Moon, who provide many sources of verification for their Montauk experiences, along with videos, photographs and documentation. There is also the account given by Stewart Swerdlow, who was one of the Montauk boys, experimented on during the operation. There are many unexpected events along the unfolding of this story bringing in people, places, beliefs and practices, from the beginning of time to the present day. For the time being we will focus on the main findings of the project as they have been revealed to Preston Nichols, Duncan Cameron, and Peter Moon. Although some of the objectives of the Montauk project were to use the results for the manipulation and mind control of the population at large and of specific task directed individuals* the human potentials revealed by their research can also be used to bring upliftment, inspiration and empowerment. *individuals programmed to live in mainstream society until called upon to carry out their subliminal programme, such plants have frequently been used for assinations, drug and arms trafficking and other covert operations. The life experiences of Cathy O'Brian told in her book Tanceformation America is a testimony of how such individuals are utilised. It is of great significance that the Montauk Base is located on the tribal lands of the Alganquin Indians. The original name for the site is 'Manatuck' an indiginous name given to a hill or high land, as a place for seeing (or being seen) far off or a place for observation. An old book dated 1911 and entitled 'Historic Long Island' contains a photograph of the 'Pyramids of Montauk,' the plate shows three pyramids or mounds about 20 feet high. The significance of this finding is compounded by the esoteric tradition which recognises Montauk as a planetary energy point that is linked with Mars and Egypt, and with the fact that the chief of the remaining Montauk Tribe carries the family name of Pharaoh. Legend also connects Montauk to Atlantis and this is geologically born out by the fact that the structure of the earth at Montauk is very different from the rest of Long Island "it is very much like an extended mountain that reaches above the sea. Some say that it is a remnant of ancient Atlantis that didn't sink and that the Montauk Indians are derived from the ancient Atlantians. The royal family name of Pharaoh is very suggestive of this particular theory."

" Long Island is believed by most geologists to have found its current place from ancient glaciers pushing down from the North Pole." (p54 Pyramids of Montauk by Preston Nichols and Peter Moon) In terms of sacred geometry Montauk is 100 degrees from the Great Pyramid at Cairo and if the Earth is divided into a dodecahedron, Montauk is on the same parallel as Olympus in Greece (the home of the gods) and the mythological city of Troy in present day Turkey, which was supposed to be in its glory at the time Atlantis finished sinking. Also the naval air force base of Camp Hero is built on a sacred Indian burial ground and its legal ownership is still up for dispute. The remaining Montauk tribe will first have to fight the legal ruling of the New York State that has declared them to be extinct. Sacred sites have been chosen as burial grounds because bones contain the crystalline structures of the being who used them and so establishes a link to the beings life information which is then stored within the energy grid. This permits communication with the dead and allows a continuous growth of consciousness to be disseminated through the energy grid of the planet. During the Montauk Experiments Duncan Cameron became the vital link to the circulatory system of the planet. With extensive psychic training and esoteric technology he would tap into the "heartbeat" of Mother Earth to become conversant with the various energies along the grid, extracting or feeding information into it, depending on the directions he was given. Thoughts could be programmed to the masses, even the entire consciousness of time could be influenced. However unbeknown to the powers that be, information downloaded at the planetary energy points cannot be manipulated. So although they sort to select and direct the information channeled into the morph genic field of the Earth's consciousness, their hidden and subliminal information was also being disseminated, in fact they were actually broadcasting to the whole of creation and in effect they were helping to speed up the evolution of consciousness. The results of the Montauk Experiments give us more indications of the hidden potentials of human beings. If it was possible for one sensitive person to materialise from the ether the objects of his thoughts and also to play with the web of time and space, to create a vortex into the past and future. Then it is possible for all humans beings to achieve similar results. If we leave it to others to expand our awareness we will not be able to develop our own imagination which is the way for us to master our own manifestation of reality. Duncan Cameron's role was to bring psychic images into manifestation for the purpose of creating an artificial reality so as to provide a continuum around the time travelers so that they could maintain an assemblage of reality in their consciousness until they reached their destination. This was achieved through channeling sexual energy and was linked to earlier experiments of sex magic ceremonies carried out by Aliester Crowley, Scientologists' Ron Hubbard and his associates. Both the Montauk Experiment and Crowley's experiments revealed that when sexual energy is generated by the tantric emotional orgasm and is channeled into the Earth's grid at a power point, the power of the thoughts, feelings and visualizations during the time of orgasmic bliss are intensified. This both speeds up the time needed for the realization or manifestation of these thoughts and visualization and also increases the charge of the input of this awareness into the collective consciousness. These experiments verify the power we have in our own consciousness and the abilities we can develop to determine our own realities. The compartmentalize of consciousness used and developed during the Montauk Experiment on both the victims on whom these experiments in psychic development were practiced and on the supporting staff and technicians who run the experiments, reveals how the consciousness of self/spirit can be pushed out of the body, leaving a space to re-program different personalities into compartments within the consciousness. Each personality having a separate program with different keys, signals frequencies, events and commands to activate them. These practices show us thorough extreme examples how the rest of the population operates during their everyday life albeit on a far subtler level. How the multi-layered personality holding a set of varying and contrasting values, manages to keep the inner working of its thoughts and feelings out of reach of its self observing consciousness and how often the energies created by these varying compartments of consciousness bleed through into everyday expression as distortions of attitude and motive.

Through school, work, the media, and advertising we are given paradigms of acceptable stimulus and response through which we should operate. When the barriers between these different commands, expectations, hopes and desires break down through conflict or strain we experience a nervous breakdown or 'schizophrenia'. It is during these times that the light of our original self/spirit can shine through and show us a far greater paradigm of who we really are. When we can use our own consciousness to observe its many parts and transform the opposing factions to form an integrated and coordinated being living in harmony with itself we can then enter the frequency of self-mastery. Overall the Montauk Experiment has shown that what we have been told of reality is by far more complex, that the potentials of our creativity are extremely more dynamic and that our place in time and space is way beyond the concepts of linear existence. Epilogue

The problem with trying to figure out everything that occurred with regard to The Philadelphia Experiment and The Montauk Project is not just the secrecy, but the number of times that the projects have been altered, changed and tried again affecting time and space. As crazy as that sounds, these projects have many levels; Too many levels to believe that it is all just the figment of some one’s imagination or a complete fraud.
